Your gift funds the geological survey that finds the water, the drilling rig and crew, hygiene education for the community, training for the villagers who will maintain the well, and the workshops for the committee the community sets up to manage it. A well usually goes more than two hundred feet down.
Clean water removes about seventy per cent of the disease in a village. It also means girls stop walking miles each morning to fetch the day's water, which means they can go to school.
