Ghana

Development in most African countries is concentrated in the cities while the rural areas are left. By the available statistics, more than seventy per cent of rural Ghana lacks basic social amenities. People depend on standing pools for their daily water — the same pools that breed the mosquitoes carrying malaria.

In the rains, the ground fills with small pools that adults and children wade through without shoes, and parasitic worm infection follows. Fishing and farming are the primary occupations. The doctor-to-patient ratio is one to seventeen thousand, which means most people will never see a doctor when they are ill.

Conditions like these are common across the continent — Togo, Benin, Ethiopia. With our headquarters in Ghana, Meaningful Life International intends to grow towards every country on it.

Our philosophy

We believe every individual is a unique creation of God, endowed with the capacity to meet their spiritual, social and emotional needs if given the right opportunity, direction and support.

So we work on all three at once: the spirit, through the gospel of Jesus Christ; the mind, through leadership development; and the body, by bringing medical care and clean drinking water to the doorstep.

How we began

Meaningful Life International was organised in 2006 as a registered non-governmental organisation for evangelical outreach, born out of a desire to empower individuals to fulfil the dreams God gave them. The main office is in the harbour city of Tema.

The agency entered the international scene in 2010, when its sister agency Meaningful Life USA was awarded 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit status. MLI is registered with the Department of Social Welfare and is a member of the Ghana Evangelical Missions Association.
