Your data
Ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. Both are free, and neither needs a reason.
What happens
We send a link to the address you give us and do nothing until it is clicked. That is not an obstacle - it is the only way we can tell that the person asking for somebody’s giving history is that person.
A copy lists every gift, every message you have sent us, and your newsletter record. It arrives on screen as soon as you confirm.
Erasure deletes your newsletter record and your messages outright. Gifts are different: a settled donation is an accounting record we are required to keep, and every total on this site is added up from those records. So we take you out of the gift - the name, the address, the phone number, the message - and leave the amount and the date. The gift becomes anonymous; it does not disappear.
We also throw things away without being asked. Messages sent through this site are deleted after 24 months. A newsletter sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted after 30 days. The IP address recorded when you submit a form - which exists only to stop the same machine submitting a thousand times - is erased after 90 days.
If something here is wrong, or you want it dealt with differently, write to us directly and a person will answer.
